Neil Mitchell
About Me
Entrepreneur and Insurance Executive Neil Mitchell has always loved the feeling of freedom he gets from riding his bicycle on the open road. The connection with the natural elements: the wind, the weather, a heightened sense of awareness of every breath and the motions of his body. The foundation of a mindfulness practice. Resolve is cultivated to traverse demanding terrain and weather to ultimately view and share breathtaking landscapes with fellow velo lovers.
Cycling has simply made his life more vibrant. Always finding enjoyment, challenges and urging himself to be better than the day before is a mentality that has made its way to every aspect of his life. He, like other weekend warriors, started participating in endurance events and long distance charity rides. Friendly competition is good for all involved, as it allows for people to push themselves in different ways. He later started combining his love of cycling with community causes and pursuits, including the Ride for Mental Health, Tour for Kids and the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride, a ride he says left him humbled, grateful and inspired by the resolve of others.
Decades of pedaling with friends in the great outdoors and pursuing the next hill, the next cycling adventure, have made him appreciative and grateful to others and aware of nature’s beauty.
In addition to his rides for community causes, Neil on two occasions, also joined the nearly 100,000 extreme athletes who sign up for Ironman races each year. Ironman requires a 3.9km swim, a 180.2km bike ride and a 42.2km run, to be completed in less than 17 hours.
Neil Mitchell is an Ironman Finisher in the United States and in Canada.
